  • Edward Cowen

    Ed is a health care communications executive with over 20 years of experience successfully launching and growing health and wellness brands. He has hands-on experience in all aspects of agency leadership, and a proven track record of building game-changing medical communication initiatives for many of the leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He has a master's degree in Health Education and a passion for inspiring teams to produce exceptional work for clients. Earlier in his career, Ed worked in medical education and as a clinical trial specialist, and served as the director of education for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR). He transitioned to marketing communications in 1996, taking leadership positions at FCB Healthcare, Lowe McAdams, and The CementBloc. At MINY, Ed is committed to continuing to build upon the agency's long-standing reputation as a premier provider of scientific communications, while expanding services and offerings to meet the needs of an evolving pharmaceutical landscape.

    Beth has over 20 years of experience in promotional medical education, CME, and health care advertising. Previously, Beth worked as a group account supervisor at both large and small advertising agencies and medical education companies. Prior to joining MINY, she was Director of Medical Education at Medscape. Her expertise spans multiple pharmaceutical educational accounts including women's health, cardiology, nephrology, orthopedics, and diabetes. Beth completed her BS at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

  • Deborah Bernstein, MD

    Deborah has over 10 years of experience in promotional medical education and promotional health care advertising, and over 15 years of clinical practice. She is a board-certified internist who, over the course of her career, has worked in almost all disease states, including allergy, anticoagulation, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, endocrine disorders, pain, oncology, rheumatology, nervous system disorders, and psychiatry. At MINY, Deborah is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of scientific content and promotional medical education activities. She also serves as a liaison between MINY and medical affairs groups and builds important relationships with industry thought leaders. Her diverse background allows her to integrate her clinical patient and physician insights, as well as her broad knowledge base in internal medicine, into all her projects. She is interested in advancing information and access to products that will make a difference in patient care. Deborah received her BA from Princeton University and her MD from George Washington University. She completed an internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at Wadsworth VA Hospital at the UCLA Medical Center.

    With over 10 years of diverse medical communications experience, Tressa has overseen projects throughout the product lifecycle in a broad range of subjects, including infectious disease, pain management, and psychiatry. Her commitment to excellence and belief in the importance of conveying research clearly, accurately, and with integrity guide her approach to scientific publications. Tressa graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy, where she served as a preceptor-instructor of medical writing/communications for the PharmD professional training program. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association and is the former Managing Director, Medical Services at Scientific Therapeutics Information, Inc. At MINY, Tressa is focused on leading the development and management of high-quality publications that support an awareness and understanding of the underlying science.

  • Francesca Balordi, BSs, PhD

    Francesca has over 10 years of experience in scientific writing, with an emphasis on oncology. Her oncology experience includes multiple compounds with different mechanisms of action, including targeted kinase inhibitors, multikinase inhibitors, HDAC inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, inhibitors of angiogenesis, microtubule stabilizers, and inhibitors of apoptosis. She also has experience in the HIV therapeutic area, working on protease inhibitors and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. At MINY, Francesca is responsible for publication planning and execution, providing writing and editorial support on primary papers and review articles for peer-reviewed journals, as well as on abstracts, posters, slide shows, and training kits. She has also helped develop global scientific platforms and strategic communication plans, and has experience in reporting competitive intelligence information from major oncology congresses. Additionally, Francesca has provided onsite support and has developed executive reports for advisory board meetings, including the Annual LEAD Summit for Novartis Oncology. Francesca received her BSc (Hons) in medical biotechnology from the University of Milan. She received her PhD in molecular and cell biology, with a focus on the role of Hedgehog pathway in the maintenance of neural stem cells, from New York University. Francesca has published 6 primary scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has attended numerous scientific congresses.

    Ayanna has over 15 years of experience working across a variety of therapeutic categories, including oncology, rheumatology, neurological disorders (CNS), cardiovascular disease, and infectious diseases. While her recent assignments have been in professional advertising, she has a rich background in medical communications: 7 years of experience in medical education and HCP interactions have served her well in her dealings with renowned thought leaders and advocacy group leaders. She is skilled in a variety of disciplines, including KOL development, web-based/digital marketing, managed care and payor management, professional advertising, and sales training. Ayanna received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and recently completed a part-time MBA program at Fordham University's Graduate School of Business in NYC.

    Cara has over 15 years of experience in scientific communications, including medical education and editorial staff positions at the journals Molecular Therapy, Genomics, and Nature Genetics. She acts as project manager and chief editor across all accounts, and manages editorial services. Cara recently earned her Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credential, issued by the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). Before entering the workforce, Cara earned a BA in biological sciences and an MS in cell and developmental biology, both from Rutgers University. Her academic research generated authorship on a paper published in The Journal of Comparative Neurology.

His expertise in leveraging new formats has resulted in many first- and best-in-class digital solutions that have delivered proven and measurable results for his clients. Bradley owns the strategic capabilities of our digital department at MINY, as well as leads the creative execution of our programming.

    Grant has over 20 years of diverse creative and managerial experience in medical advertising, branding, promotion, and education. At MINY he directs the design, development, and production of branded and nonbranded medical communications materials across multimedia and print platforms, including digital media. Grant spearheaded the creation of an acclaimed first-in-class interactive mirror for Pfizer that debuted at the 20th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. As VP, Associate Creative Director of Art at Brand Pharm, he was instrumental in the global launch and/or branding of several therapeutic agents, notably a J&J $2.5 billion monoclonal antibody, which garnered 5 indications over 7 years. For his work on this account, Grant won the Rx Club Award of Excellence. He was also responsible for the global rebranding of ConvaTec's corporate identity. In previous positions, he provided creative services for the nonprofit, gift, and entertainment industries. Grant earned a BS degree in graphic design from SUNY College at Buffalo and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

    This disease-state booth elevates touch screen technology to a new level by allowing the user to interact
    with the content in several engaging ways.

    An interactive touch-enabled mirror utilizes infrared technology to create an outline of the user's reflection. As the educational story unfolds, on-screen imagery and scientific data vibrantly interact with this outline of the user's body.

    Another element of the booth, the Virtual KOL, utilizes motion-sensor technology to attract the user to its freestanding kiosk. By inviting the user to "play," the Virtual KOL provides a one-on-one educational experience, allowing selection of informative presentations based on the user's specific interests - a new spin on the ubiquitous traditional slide presentation.
